Cleaning Your Criminal Record Individualized Help

Were you denied housing or employment based on a criminal record? An expungement is a way to break barriers for a brighter future. Certain misdemeanors can be changed to "expunged" on your record showing the case was effectively dismissed. The Los Angeles County Public Defender's Office provides free record-cleaning services. Attorneys and paralegals will help in filling out expungement forms and reducing nonviolent felonies to misdemeanors through Prop 47.

Free one-on-one assistance provided with:

  • Obtaining a criminal history report for cases in LA County
  • Filing a petition to expunge certain misdemeanors
  • Getting a nonviolent felony reduced to a misdemeanor under Prop 47
  • Getting some marijuana offenses cleared under Prop 64

Family Law Paternity Orientation Workshop (Torrance)

This workshop is intended for people who are representing themselves in family law court and who want to file a paternity action and establish child custody, child visitation, and child support orders.

This workshop will provide:

  • Information on the paternity process and basic legal terms in a paternity proceeding
  • Step-by-step instructions on how to fill out specific forms filed in a paternity action

Children are not allowed in the workshop.

Class taught in English.

Location: Sign-Up takes place at LA Law Library, Torrance Branch, Torrance Courthouse, 825 Maple Avenue, Room 110, Torrance, CA 90503

Arrive by 8 a.m. the day of the workshop. No admittance after 9:00 a.m.

This workshop is offered on a first-come first-served basis; take a number from the board outside of the Law Library, Room 110. Once you have a number wait outside of the library.

Only the first 20 Petitioners may attend
