Mistakes happen in the course of a civil lawsuit. A defendant may fail to respond to a lawsuit, resulting in a default; or, a plaintiff may fail to respond to a motion to dismiss. In this class, learn about civil procedures for setting aside defaults and other mistakes in California state courts.

- When and how a party may seek relief from his or her mistakes
- What constitutes “default” and “dismissal”
- Preparing motions to vacate
