Renting a commercial space is a big step for any small business. Before you sign your lease agreement, you should understand how commercial leases differ from the residential agreements, and make sure you understand the basic terms of the lease. If you already have a lease in place and you don’t understand its terms, join this session to understand the meaning of its clauses. Lawyers will provide an overview of the most important terms of a commercial lease and provide tips when negotiating a new contract or changes to your current agreement.

ON DEMAND: Sealing Eviction Records So You Can Rent Again

Having an eviction on your record can make it very difficult to get new housing. Join attorneys from Public Counsel to learn about how to look up what is on your record, and how to petition the court to seal your old eviction cases (i.e., make the records private).

LIVE ZOOM: Prioritizing Mental Health & Locating Community Resources

This class will focus on helping you identify warning signs and overwhelming or prolonged stress factors that can put your mental health at risk. Long term stress increases the risk of mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, substance use, sleep problems, and pain and bodily complaints such as muscle tension. Learning to determine how you respond to stress can aid you in locating the best resources to help you cope and mitigate the impacts before it turns into long term stress.

Class Covers:

  • Identifying stressors and early signs of stress that affect your mental health
  • Learning how unidentified and prolonged stress can contribute to long term health issues
  • Understanding how legal challenges contribute to stress  
  • Helping people learn the resources available to help cope with stress

ON DEMAND: Your Federal Tax Credits

This class discusses how qualifying individuals can take advantage of the expanded federal- tax credits. Tax credits covered will include the Federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Dependency Credit and the Child Tax Credit. This class will also provide an overview of tax preparation services and the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITINS).
