In California, many special need families struggle to care for adults who are not able to care for themselves. For these families, a court-approved conservatorship may help. A probate conservatorship allows a responsible person or organization to receive legal powers to provide for the care, needs and protection of their loves ones after 18 years old. This information session raises awareness and educates the public about conservatorship as a legal process available to families.

9:30 am to 12:00 pm: What is conservatorship? | 1:00 pm to 4 pm: Forms processing

In California, a conservatorship is a proceeding where a judge appoints a responsible person or organization to assist a disable adult with personal care or finances.

Morning session provides an overview of conservatorship and the petition process. Afternoon session provides help preparing and filing documents to be appointed as a probate conservator.

Class covers:

  • Overview of conservatorships and alternatives
  • Referrals for other types of assistance
  • Rights of the conservatee and responsibilities of the conservator
  • The court forms needed to file for a conservatorship

Walk-ins welcome. First come, first served. Space is limited.
